May 8th 2010

I have to say that this last Saturday, May 8th was very busy for me. I woke up at 7AM, getting only six hours of sleep or less cuz we cleaned the house the night before, and swept and cleaned the wooden kitchen floor. Obviously cleaning wasn't all finished.
Hey, if I could clean like the Genie or Bewitched I would do that every night. LOL
Anyway, I got ready and left for IHOP to meet up with the girls of the family for a pre-Mother's Day get-together. I was the first to get there, and signed us up for seven people. Thankfully I was the first one cuz I had a card for my Mother to be signed.

The card also sang- "We Are Family" whenever it was opened. LOL My two sisters, Alana and Lindsey, were the first to arrive who had a little trouble signing the singing card, especially with our eyes scanning the area for my mother. They signed the card and our name was called for seating. Soon after we sat my mother, my sister-in-law(Liz) and her sister(Ruth) come in. Ironically, my mother sits next to me- the one with her locket and the large card, the length of my forearm. But thankfully my mother didn't notice us passing the card around underneath the table so that Liz could sign it. At that point I think Lindsey was looking at a yearbook Alana had brought from the school she taught from (she was the Yearbook class teacher) and she said loudly, "I think I'm done looking at this," handing the yearbook to my mother to distract her from Liz who signed the card in the women's bathroom. LOL and it gets better. Kelli, another sis-in-law, arrived and is soon taken to the bathroom to sign the card. This whole time the card and the locket(in a small box) was in a grocery bag. When it came time to give it back to me they just gave me the card and the box. I don't have a big purse to trying to set the card and the box conspicuously on the floor was REALLY hard to do. As it was when I was messing with the box my mother looks where I'm leaning over (I'm almost in her food) she asks, "Is everything okay?" I stop messing with the box sit straight up and say, "Nope, I'm good." LOL I thought she would have caught on by then. Whether she did or she didn't she let it pass and we continued eating.

We finished eating and by my Dad's treat my Mother paid the bill of the whole table- Thank you Daddy! We also insisted that after she was done that she come back to the table- literally Alana said, "You must come back here. We aren't done." I just about busted out laughing. She came back presented the card and soon after the locket:

I don't know if it was me but she was on the verge of tears when she saw the locket. We love you Mom!

We soon left IHOP to go shopping at JCPenney. Liz and Ruth had a color scheme they were going by to find clothes and I thought that was cool. I wonder what my colors are.

I tried a few things on myself not really planning on getting anything since I want to lose weight here soon. I got to see all the other girls try on some cute shirts and skirts and dresses. But sadly had to leave for a different girl party I was hosting. I took Alana back to IHOP for her car when she realized she left the yearbook in Lindsey's van and I stupidly turned onto Baseline from Power, finally turning around at Recker. Then back to Power to the mall again. LOL

By the time I got to my house my consultant/guest was already there. And sadly she was having a bad day. Chris and the kids soon left and I got the rest of the house ready for more guests. Besides me and my consultant, six other girls were to arrive and only three came. Oh well- my consultant did a good job and we had fun.

Afterward a friend and I left for Rack Room Shoes at Fiesta Mall where I bought a pair of boots- my Mother's Day gift that Chris let me get. Then she dropped me off and I finally was able to settle down and wait for Chris and the kids to get home. That was when I was finally able to eat something again. I didn't even realize I hadn't eaten lunch until 5:30pm. LOL And I still didn't eat until Chris got home to ask if I should make dinner. Turned out they had pizza. That was a long day- but very enjoyable. :)

Thank you, girls, for a wonderful day!!! Yes, I am a little bit of a ditz these days (grandkids do that to ya), but I LOVE the card and locket (and yes, I did get a bit teary-eyed). You are the best daughters a mom could have (and that includes Ruth, too).
