3cm's and Counting

Today I went to the OBGYN thinking nothing exciting will happen, you know, routine pregnancy check-up. I thought maybe I had lost the mucous plug on Christmas day but I wouldn't had been surprised if I was wrong.
Apparently I was very right cuz I went in to find out I went from a closed cervix last week to 3cm. I guess the Christmas stuff and shopping did more than give me exercise. So for the next week or so I think I'll take it easy in the walking department. I want to be watching Les Miserables with my family girls and at least make it to January since my Mother already bought a January gem for her grandkid heart necklace.
My Mother already votes for 1/1/13 at 12:13am.
Any more votes for day, time, weight, and length?

37 Weeks

Not many changes this week from the doctor. Still growing normally and negative on Group B Strep.
Tehya however has been giving me heartburn nightly before bed because she's getting bigger and hopefully growing more hair in the process. Oh the doctor did say that Tehya may be around 7lbs already, but the doc has been wrong before so we'll see. Tehya has also been moving around a lot, sometimes even kicking in-time to a song on tv, weird feeling but makes me laugh every time.I'm a bit uncomfortable sometimes but not as often as people think...I think. Usually when I'm having a braxton hicks contraction and I'm walking, after the contraction and Tehya stretches to tell me to stop them from squeezing her, or the usual stuff like putting on certain shoes, or Tehya stretching into my bladder. But otherwise I'm just tired...or lazy. You pick.
Happy 37 Weeks to me and Merry Christ-mas to you!

Gma's Present

Here is the finished product for my mother aka Gma Lynne.
Months ago I saw a picture online that resembled a plaque/picture holder like this and it was something my mother didn't have. Oh she could show off her fellow co-workers from her computer but this was something she could display to them if she chose to hang in her office plus easily change the pictures when she wanted or had new ones to post.
I found the biggest wooden plaque at Hobby Lobby, the smallest wooden clothes pins there too and small wooden hearts. I used a make-it-yourself stencil to make the "grandkids" but got the lettering from online. I painted the plaque maroon, the big lettering is gold, and the hearts are cream with maroon lettering. The clothes pins have some designs on them as well to combine the cream, maroon and gold for a finishing touch.
So far on this plaque there are 13 pictures, L-R oldest to youngest, including Tehya's ultrasound picture until she is born. There is even room for more pins for more Gkids later on!
Merry Christmas Gma Lynne!

36 Weeks Along AKA 1 Month Left

I thought I'd list a few things I miss, will miss, and won't miss while pregnant for this last month countdown.

I miss:
  • Laying on my stomach
  • Feeling alone with my husband (if you catch my drift)
  • Taking medications for colds or sleeping
  • Sleeping on my back
  • Fitting into jeans and shirts
  • Feeling useful around the house
  • Sleeping without being poked in the ribs every time I wake up during the night
  • A smaller stomach
I will miss:
  • The baby kicks
  • Easy care for the baby
  • The excuse of a fat tummy to blame on a baby
  • The excuse of why I'm scatter-brained
  • Sleeping (Ha ha!)
  • The kids' fasination with a baby in my tummy
  • Tehya's dancing in my belly
  • Having just 2 kids
I will NOT miss:
  • Her stretching into my ribs
  • My large tummy every skinny girl thinks I'm having twins with
  • The heartburn
  • Peeing so often cuz a baby is bouncing on it
  • Waddling
  • Pregnancy pants
  • Not having Tehya
There are probably more if I had the time or wasn't pregnant-brained but I'd say these were the biggies.

Angel the Bear

This is Angel, the bear I "adopted" at Build-A-Bear for Tehya. Ain't she cute! I wanted to do purple but most of the purple stuff they had wasn't gonna be good for a baby, you know it had beads or something, so I came up with this. She also has a "beating heart", there's a button in it the shape of a heart that beats 5 times with a "thump, thump...thump thump". I hope Tehya likes it!

Christmas Cookies

We made sugar cookies and I put frosting on them!
If they look a little wierd it's because 1) I thought I could only use 3 colors but found out at the end I could've added like 2 more colors If so needed, 2) yes that is pink not red cuz I've run out of red, and 3) I ran out of official frosting bags so I used other baggies.

From L-R, Top to Bottom: Santa, stocking, polar bear, snow man (with laser eyes as Chris says), snow clouds & snow, gingerbread man, Christmas tree, candy cane, wreath, and snowflake...
Another Santa, Christmas lights, teddy bear, snowed on evergreen, and snowed on house with snowman...
Ornament, "Noel", another snowflake, "Joy", and another snowman...
Rudolf, "Tis the season", candy, snowed on cactus for AZ, bells, and heart...
"He is Born", green present, red present, "Give", another candy cane, and Christmas colors.
My personal favorite is the cactus!

Trailers

The Croods- Looks pretty funny to me. So far I like the characters Eep, Belt, and Gran. What do you think? Les Miserables- I'm anxious and nervous to see this. I'm worried Russel Crowe will not hit the notes mostly, but also worried how real or what they included in the movie, considering the prostitution. Are you in the same boat? There are other trailers that I like: 'Warm Bodies' (Comedy, romance, horror), 'Iron Man 3', 'Star Trek Into Darkness', 'The Host' (favorite book), 'Mortal Instruments' (I read the series), even 'After Earth' and 'Oblivion' look interesting. Long list so hence why I didn't post them all.

Toothless Grin

Here are the pics of the tooth and Christian.
 Such a small tooth!
Christian's bottom middle tooth is gone!
Oh and he's excited to note he can still "whistle" on his own.

Christian's First Lost Tooth

Yesterday, Christian gets off the bus and excitedly says, "I have a loose tooth Mommy." I was thinking the tooth may be a little loose since it was his first. No, it was pretty wobbly. Kinda makes me wonder how it loosened so quickly over the day but I was so excited after feeling it move back and forth so easily I didn't care. After Christian got inside the house we called Chrispy. Chrispy was indeed surprised by not only hearing Christian answer his hello but by the news. Christian also said he'd be able to get a whistle from the tooth fairy. Not sure where the whistle came from but made Chrispy and I laugh.
Throughout the evening Christian kept playing with it, every now and then tell me it's getting looser. When it was time for dinner, I couldn't think of anything I wanted to fix so we had cereal. Yes, I'm a bad mom. He kept complaining that his tooth was hurting him. I tried to explain to chew with his molars but he didn't get what I was saying and eventually he stopped eating his mostly eaten cereal.
Chrispy was able to help him to bed easily, especially with brushing his teeth, swishing and even applying a little Orajel. This morning he woke us up around 3am cuz his stomach hurt but we solved that pretty easily and I won't go into details on that.
But at 7:30 we got up officially for the day (a little later than we should have but oh well). I get Christian up and helped him pick out clothes to get him out of bed. When we go downstairs for breakfast we figure that eating something softer would be best so he will eat, so Chris gave him a hard boiled egg. Does anyone else think it's funny that HARD boiled eggs are soft to eat? Even though the egg was softer to eat than the cereal he still complained about the pain and took a long time to eat the one egg.
After that we got him ready to leave, shoes on and brushing his teeth. And like a mean mom I made him brush his own teeth this morning which resulted in his tooth coming out. He came out of the bathroom a little freaked out. I think it was the blood that scared him the most. It wasn't a lot but any kind of blood freaks him out, making him think he's weaker than he is. He was able to save the tooth in a small cup we have in the bathroom. And thank goodness the bus was later than normal so I was able to help Christian swish his mouth with warm salt water to stop the bleeding faster. I also gave him a tissue that he could apply to the "hole", just in case, as we hustled him out the door to the bus.
Later I'll take a picture of him without a tooth and post it. I just didn't want to forget any details.
So YAY! Christian lost his first tooth!!!

So Far...

...I am still pregnant. Shocker! *insert slight sarcasm*
But it's not like I'm surprised cuz I haven't had a lot of braxton hicks lately and well I'm not known for being early. Ha ha ha! I meant in pregnancy.
Anyway, my cervix is closed, I'm measuring normally, and the baby is showing no signs of being early. Thank Heaven! Still need to go through the baby clothes to pick out an outfit or two, get the kids' stuff packed and blah blah blah. Doctor said I probably won't deliver before the new year, though I could've told her that. Hahaha!
Oh today I bought a teddy bear for Tehya from Build-A-Bear. I had a coupon and the only kid who doesn't have a bear was Tehya. Yes I know it's way before she's born but the coupon expired at the end of the month and "adopting" a teddy bear on 12/12/12 is pretty cool. So in about a month we'll be taking a picture of her with her bear that I named- Angel.

35 Weeks

5 more weeks left
...
And not even close to being fully ready for her.
Yes we have pretty much everything we need, I can't think of anything else we need, just getting rid of stuff we don't use and organizing the rest. Not so easy during Christmas...and being huge...and having a husband that works late. How do military wives do it?! At least with Christian I had till February. I don't really have that option this time. But oh well, maybe when she is here she'll encourage more organizing. Ha ha!
Anyway...
Tehya has been reminding me of what it was like with Nayeli. She's been pushing, prodding, stretching, and what feels like digging herself out. I can now understand my sister-in-law's phrase of "squishing his head whenever I sit or bend" only I'd say her head not his head. She has even made me nauseated with all her gymnastics, and she just LOVES doing stunts on my bladder.
So in evaluating Tehya's in-womb personality I think she'll be like Nayeli in the fact that she won't like to be swaddled. She'll like to cuddle later in life like Nayeli, but not so as an infant. I also think Tehya will be one to spit up a lot. So I should really look into getting more burp cloths now that I think on it.
There are a few things I hope for with Tehya though. Of course it's that she's a healthy baby with all toes, fingers and face. But I would like a dark haired child instead of the mousey brown that Christian and Nayeli have. I know we won't know for a while on that, but I hope for it anyway. I also hope that hair is full on top. Unlike Nayeli who looked like an old man or as I put it, a bishop's hairdo, barely there on top and thicker on the sides of the head.
We'll have to see....
This week I go into see the doctor and probably have more to tell on our situation. Plus I'll be going in every week after that. It's down to the finish but we're still far from the winning line.

Naughty or Nice

A new thing this year is to keep track of the kids' nice-ness or naughty-ness is a Naughty or Nice Calender. I've printed out this calender:

And these boxes:

To represent how they can earn their presents. I kinda got this idea while talking to my sister's friend about Christmas. She said she felt that her kids have been horrible this year that all she wants to do is give them coal. (I believe they are selling cinnamon candy coal at Deseret Book or Seagull Book; I thought it was funny.) And I wanted to kind of gauge my own kids behaviour for Christmas/daily. So I came up with the calender. Each day represents a present for Christmas *we don't literally have 24 toys/gifts to give them but we can gauge how many they can earn in the overall month* the boxes represent chances, I guess, to earn presents for Christmas. If they are bad throughout the day no present will be stuck to the day. If they are good they earn the full present *full present is with ribbon and bow, it starts with the colored box, then ribbon, then bow*. If they do bad things they can still earn back the present if they do good, but if they do bad again, it is taken away. Make sense? Clear as mud?
Example: Today Christian was good for most of the day today. So he'll have at least one present come Christmas, unless he's mean the rest of the month.
Nayeli on the other hand wasn't good most of the day. If she keeps this up, no presents for her on Christmas. Not even from Santa. *Kids get only one present from Santa, why should Santa get all the glory of children's hearts*
Also another thing I've added was that the toys the kids don't earn will go to charity somewhere.
