Yesterday, Christian gets off the bus and excitedly says, "I have a loose tooth Mommy." I was thinking the tooth may be a little loose since it was his first. No, it was pretty wobbly. Kinda makes me wonder how it loosened so quickly over the day but I was so excited after feeling it move back and forth so easily I didn't care. After Christian got inside the house we called Chrispy. Chrispy was indeed surprised by not only hearing Christian answer his hello but by the news. Christian also said he'd be able to get a whistle from the tooth fairy. Not sure where the whistle came from but made Chrispy and I laugh.
Throughout the evening Christian kept playing with it, every now and then tell me it's getting looser. When it was time for dinner, I couldn't think of anything I wanted to fix so we had cereal. Yes, I'm a bad mom. He kept complaining that his tooth was hurting him. I tried to explain to chew with his molars but he didn't get what I was saying and eventually he stopped eating his mostly eaten cereal.
Chrispy was able to help him to bed easily, especially with brushing his teeth, swishing and even applying a little Orajel. This morning he woke us up around 3am cuz his stomach hurt but we solved that pretty easily and I won't go into details on that.
But at 7:30 we got up officially for the day (a little later than we should have but oh well). I get Christian up and helped him pick out clothes to get him out of bed. When we go downstairs for breakfast we figure that eating something softer would be best so he will eat, so Chris gave him a hard boiled egg. Does anyone else think it's funny that HARD boiled eggs are soft to eat? Even though the egg was softer to eat than the cereal he still complained about the pain and took a long time to eat the one egg.
After that we got him ready to leave, shoes on and brushing his teeth. And like a mean mom I made him brush his own teeth this morning which resulted in his tooth coming out. He came out of the bathroom a little freaked out. I think it was the blood that scared him the most. It wasn't a lot but any kind of blood freaks him out, making him think he's weaker than he is. He was able to save the tooth in a small cup we have in the bathroom. And thank goodness the bus was later than normal so I was able to help Christian swish his mouth with warm salt water to stop the bleeding faster. I also gave him a tissue that he could apply to the "hole", just in case, as we hustled him out the door to the bus.
Later I'll take a picture of him without a tooth and post it. I just didn't want to forget any details.
So YAY! Christian lost his first tooth!!!

That's SO exciting! And so great that it came out while he was brushing, rather than you having to "pull" it out. Now THAT hurts!
Congrats Christian! What a milestone!
