So this last Tuesday (sorry for delaying the tell tale) was Christian's official Dentist appointment. We took him to Chris's and my dentist but we figured it may be better/different if we went to a regular Pediatric Dentist.
Chris tried to get the day off but to no avail, he had to work, leaving me with Christian and Nayeli. Thankfully, Lindsey was available/willing/gracious enough to be a last minute babysitter for Ellie. So around 10:30am I dropped Ellie off then drove to the dentist office. When we showed up at the door he did not want to go in. It's like he felt a foreboding doom. I tried to be nice since I didn't want to be the person to freak him out here. I doubt it worked but whatever.
Thankfully they had put The Incredibles on their TV and we had brought a recent favorite toy to calm his nerves. There was also a young mother and her 2 yr old daughter there and her daughter's calm presence helped.
Christian was fine till the dentist came in. He took one look at the dentist and he became stubborn. Must be the scrubs or something. The dentist told me to have Christian sit on my lap, straddling his legs around my waist then lay Christian's head into his, the dentist's, lap. That way he brushed Christian's teeth with two types of paste and looked at his teeth between brushings. After that the dentist said, "He looks good. No cavities. You're doing a great job." I emphasized, "Are you sure? We thought he might have a cavity in the lower right of the mouth." But he said he was good. No x-rays? Christian moved/struggled so much I can't imagine how he saw anything! But whatever. Does this happen with every dentist? I know our dentist at least tried for x-rays. Any input?

I haven't taken either of my kids to a pediatric dentist (didn't take Mark to a dentist until he was 5 ... don't recommend going that route). But I would imagine they're used to looking at teeth quickly since kids rarely sit still for a thorough examination. I'd say trust the doc ... he does this every day.
