Christian has finished his evaluations for preschool and he has qualified for Developemental Delay Services. It is not severe, thankfully, but we agree with the teachers that he will need more attention from teachers for a time.
Today he was great at first; answering questions to the best of his ability, playing, and acting on the teachers instructions. However as the morning went on he become the closed off child we see at home. Even cheesy Goldfish did not help nor did our leaving the room.
Throughout the time that I watched him start to close off from the teachers I have to admit my heart fell with each obstinate "no" he gave them. But in this way the teachers saw what we worry about and hopefully soon he'll be in school to fix that. We are happy that he will have the free preschool but we're saddened that Christian had acted in the way he did.
We will soon have the full report sent to us via mail and we'll soon receive a call from the district to get him settled through paperwork. We'll most likely have to drive him to the school at first then maybe the bus will come later. Depending on how things go Christian may start school before Christmas or start in January, so far its up in the air. We will let you know when we do.
Thank you for all of your support of our family. We love you all!

Don't be too hard on him ... it was only his first day! He'll get better, I promise. To be honest, I've seen such an improvement in his social abilities the last few times our kids have played together, it's been a lot of fun to watch. I look forward to seeing how he improves from here.
