If I was to compare these series of books to a well known book series it would be The Lord of the Ring. It's an entirelly different world of gods, sorcery, castles, kings and so forth; with a young boy who grows into a teen, watched over by his aunt who isn't what he thinks she is. Along comes an old man of many secrets of his own, wringing in this teen and his aunt into danger and mystery to save their world.
I'd give more but I'd be afriad to give up the whole story. Thank you my brother, Chris, for letting me borrow this book...again. :)

Yes, Chris is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the sci-fi and/or fantasy world. Good person to go to for suggestions on what's good to read.
If only I had the time ... *sigh*
I'm glad you getting SO into reading... and that you're finally moving on from Stephanie Meyer. She's a fine writer for sure, but there are so many other awesome books out there!!! Now if only you could get into Harry Potter... ;-)
