Twilight Book

So I've watched the movie Twilight...duh. Now I've read the 1st book. Yes, Jessica has finished a 24 chapter, 498 page (including Preface and Epilogue) book. Those of you who don't understand how big that is for me well, let's say I get bored easily with how people talk in their books. For me I need to be...imagining that I'm there for me to visualize. Only few authors have gotten to do that for me. Chris Heimerdinger (probably spelled wrong) wrote the Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites series, Lois Lowry wrote The Giver, Gathering Blue and Messenger, and now Stephenie Meyer who wrote the Twilight series.
And if you want to know how intrigued I was reading through this 1st book...I bought the book on Friday night and finished this morning. That's less than 3 days!!! Anyway, so if you care to know my opinion between the book and the movie then read on. Now I must warn you I'm the kind of person that likes both sides of the story, point-of-views and I consider myself open minded for the most part, or I at least try.
Now I've heard countless times that "the book is SOOO much better than the movie" but what people don't realize is that the casting crew was probably limited to how the characters were to be viewed on screen. There aren't that many people who look:
Bella- clumbsy, white, young enough to go to high school, skinny and looking good with Edward.
Edward- really white, hot, looking good with Bella and looking young enough for high school.
And if you want to complain to me about the other characters sure go ahead. :) All I'm saying is that considering what they had to portray and do it well I think they did a darn good job. Sure I wish that there was more to the movie, like more with Jasper and Alice or even with Bella and Edward. Lots of questions unanswered. But whatever, I read the book and it helps clench the story better. And I think that if you could see a better job be done, go into that kind of schooling that makes you into a producer, then complain. Its a little like voting. If you don't vote you don't have a say in what goes on in politics. Simple.
To answer my dear sister- I really liked the book and can't wait to buy the next. I love the movie and can't wait to see the next. However, if you don't feel like reading the books yet watch the movie (without the kids) and decide if you want to know more or not. Cuz if you want to know more, especially about what Bella thinks then read the book. Plus to me I felt I could see the characters/atmosphere better after watching the movie first. I hope that helps. :)
-Sorry if I sound somewhat opinionated, but that's how I am if I like something.

I know what you mean about being able to "visualize" the movie as you read the book. That is what happened for me with the Davinci Code. LOVED the movie...read the book, and still loved the movie...but there are certainly things missing that give a greater grasp of the movie. It is almost like I can appreciate the movie more because of the book.

Now the Work and the Glory is a different story...I just fantasize about how the movie should have gone in comparison to the book. The first movie was good....went down-hill from there.

Nice review without giving anything away! I'm intrigued, but I think I'll wait until things in my life settle down a bit.

And now Liz has me intrigued with the Davinci Code (haven't seen the movie or read the book). So much to do, so little time!
